Target Shooting Taster Sessions

Ever wanted to experience what it’s like to shoot a real gun? Thinking about obtaining a sport shooting license but want to see whether you’ll enjoy it before committing to the legal process? With us, you can see what it’s like – all in a very safe environment on a licensed shooting range in our pleasant Maltese climate.

After a thorough safety briefing, you will be introduced to a pump-action shotgun, to different calibre semi automatic pistols and to a semi-automatic rifle with a minimum guaranteed number of rounds as well as the option to purchase more ammunition. All safety equipment as well as insurance coverage will be provided.

Group bookings for team building events, stag/hen parties, etc. are very welcome.

In the interest of safety, you will have to wear appropriate clothing – no sandals or low cut tops, especially for the ladies (nobody enjoys having a hot cartridge case drop between their bare toes or down their shirt!) It goes without saying that we will absolutely not place a firearm in the hands of anybody who we suspect has had too much to drink or is under the effect of some kind of drug.

A national identification document or passport must be presented. All participants must have a clean criminal record, be it in Malta or in their country of origin if they are foreign nationals.

Courses

1 – The Fundamentals of Precision

This particular course is aimed at newly licensed shooters who have just acquired (or are thinking of buying) their first firearm and want to get a solid grounding in the principles of pistolwork. It can be very frustrating for a new shooter to take their brand new gun to the range and, in spite of having spent many an hour watching actors on TV make it seem all so effortless, repeatedly fail to get a decent result. All this frustration can be cured by following the pointers we will provide in this course, during which we will teach you how to shoot tight shot groups in a controlled manner while ensuring that the principles of gun safety are really becoming second nature to you.

Requirements: Firearm (listed on your “Target A” licence), insurance, safety equipment, appropriate clothing and a minimum of 200 rounds of ammunition. If you have a license but have not yet bought your first gun or safety equipment, these can be provided.

Duration: Minimum of 1 hour.

2 – The Fundamentals of Dynamic Shooting

Looking for a new challenge beyond static shooting? Dynamic shooting disciplines such as IPSC, Steel Challenge and IDPA in which you try to balance speed and accuracy can offer a great challenge. They are also some of the most popular shooting disciplines in Malta, with a very vibrant community. Racing “against the clock” while trying to maintain an acceptable level of precision can give you a huge adrenaline rush but can be frustrating if you just can’t seem to get it right. This course builds on your precision shooting skills while introducing you to activities such as drawing efficiently from a holster, transitioning between targets, performing fast magazine changes and controlling recoil – all vital skills without which you won’t get very far in these games.

Requirements: Licensed Handgun (minimum 9x19mm), 3 magazines, IPSC/Steel Challenge/IDPA legal belt kit, minimum 300 rounds, appropriate clothing and safety equipment.

Duration: Minimum of 4 hours.

3 – The Fundamentals of Dynamic Shooting: Rifle

As is the case with handguns, you can also try your hand at exciting dynamic rifle disciplines such as IPSC. This course introduces you all all the skills you will need to safely and successfully navigate a typical IPSC course of fire in as short a time as possible and with the highest possible score. We cover things like presentation to target, target transitions, magazine changes and various shooting positions.

Requirements: Licensed rifle (minimum 9x19mm), 3 magazines, minimum 300 rounds, appropriate clothing and safety equipment.

Duration: Minimum of 4 hours.

4 – Dynamic Shooting, Beyond Fundamentals

This particular course is for those shooters who can already safely and accurately run a typical IPSC/IDPA stage, but who cannot make the next jump in results because they find it difficult to obtain fast stage times or are challenged by things such as moving targets, difficult shooting position and shooting on the move. This more advanced course is designed to help you face any shooting challenge with confidence while making you more efficient in your stage planning and movement, thus gaining you precious points when you are snapping at the heels of better shooters

Requirements: Licensed Handgun (minimum 9x19mm), 3 magazines, IPSC/Steel Challenge/IDPA legal belt/holster kit, minimum 300 rounds, appropriate clothing and safety equipment.

Duration: Minimum of 4 hours.
